BEST LYRICS WINNER:
‘Icarus, Cassius, and Fortuna’ by mollydoodles (United States)
The way this song blends together mythology, history, and fate into a song is brilliant, and I love that you made it your own! The sharp wordplay and seamless integration of Latin references help elevate its grand, epic feel. The song also maintains a strong flow, with its use of rhyme and rhythm making it feel very captivating. Each section builds perfectly to the song’s chilling conclusion. A standout piece in both concept and execution!
BEST PERFORMANCE WINNER:
‘Pearls’ by Gaby Montiel (United States)
This song is a stunning display of musical storytelling, with an incredible use of chords that seamlessly support the narrative. The tension and release in the progression mirrors the struggle in the lyrics, and each new chord/thought feels intentional. I’m especially drawn to the line “The seller and the art” as a haunting metaphor that holds even more weight when it returns at the end. Vocally, your tone is stunning, and it’s clear that you deeply connect with the lyrics, which makes the performance very compelling. The dynamic contrast and build throughout the song is very powerful, and I genuinely got chills listening to it. A moving and beautiful piece!
