  • Give three WtW writers a thoughtful and supportive peer review each week
  • Create an original prompt for WtW writers to respond to
  • Encourage and motivate WtW writers by commenting on five newly published pieces each week

  • Provide valuable feedback and ideas on the Write the World site
BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING AS A COMMUNITY AMBASSADOR
  • Expand your portfolio and resumé for college applications
  • Express your culture, background, and experiences through writing and peer reviewing
  • Gain a sense of responsibility and camaraderie within a community of writers
  • Enrich your writer’s voice by providing feedback to site users and receiving feedback from mentors and peers
  • Fortify your skills as an editor and peer reviewer
  • Learn how to write creative, authentic prompts that will appeal to the Write the World audience and support the next generation of young writers
WHAT FORMER COMMUNITY AMBASSADORS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE:
  • "The ambassadorship was one of the most riveting and fulfilling experiences I have ever had. From face-to-face meetings to creation of prompts to reviewing, I have learned more than I ever imagined." - Grace (Canada)
  • “I learned how to give better feedback in a way that I now apply to my life every day. Certain skills, like phrasing what I say to sound more supportive or understanding, have also helped me when talking to friends and family and resolving issues. It's a skill I often use now and I am definitely happy to have it for when I enter the professional world.” - Camilla (US)
  • “Through writing exemplar pieces for whichever prompt I was given, I had to write about things I wasn’t necessarily familiar with. These instances often produced the most thought-provoking work, and I loved being inspired by interesting, out-of-the-box prompts. I also learned to step outside my comfort zone and review pieces in styles I hadn’t tried before.” - Joyce (Malaysia)

  • Written 10 or more peer reviews on WtW

WHAT DO WE CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING COMMUNITY AMBASSADORS?

Here are some of the things we consider when choosing Community Ambassadors:

  • The quality and amount of reviews the applicant has written
  • The applicant’s demonstrated commitment to being a supportive and positive member of the WtW community—as a writer, reviewer, and commenter
  • The care taken with the application (for instance, is it free of errors? Is the writing thoughtful?)
  • The applicant’s efforts to follow WtW writing guidelines and, when appropriate, their demonstration of a respectful and professional communication style with WtW staff members and site moderators

We welcome applications from all young writers who meet the above criteria. And if you’ve applied before but have not been selected, we definitely encourage you to apply again!
