Write the World’s Writing Streak Week for Giving Tuesday 2024

Write the World, an international platform dedicated to nurturing teenage writers, is thrilled to announce the launch of Writing Streak Week, a Giving Tuesday fundraising and awareness initiative from November 18 to 24, 2024. Help us reach our goal of $10,000 by Giving Tuesday, December 3, 2024, to fund programs that empower teens to strengthen their writing and critical thinking skills. Join us in making a difference!

What is Writing Streak Week?

Writing Streak Week is a 7-day challenge inviting participants to link to our fundraising page, write daily, and share their progress on social media!

Campaign Initiatives

Funds raised through this campaign will benefit the following Write the World programs:

Free writing community memberships for teens

Every $33 raised sponsors membership to the Write the World community for teens ages 13-19, giving young writers access to our platform to refine their skills and develop their authentic, creative voices. From writing prompts to competitions, writing resources to peer feedback, we offer a safe space to let their creativity soar while growing their craft and supporting one another across continents.

Cash Prizes for Teen Writers

Donations will support cash awards that celebrate excellence in writing among monthly competition winners on our platform. Prizes are awarded to the winner, finalist, and most thoughtful peer reviewer. By providing steady incentives, we encourage young writers to pursue writing in various genres as a powerful means of expression and growth. Our competitions also offer the chance for notable guest judges to provide expert feedback and we recognize winning pieces on our website, blog, and social channels.

College Essay Scholarship Fund

This initiative provides scholarships to help students prepare and submit college essays, ensuring equitable access to higher education opportunities. A strong college essay can be a vital tool for students seeking to further their education, and this fund will support those needing guidance and resources to create standout applications.

To start fundraising with us:

• To begin, simply visit Write the World’s fundraising page and click "I Want To Fundraise For This." Then click on 'Create my own page'.  You will then be directed to register, come up with a fundraising goal, and have the option to write a note to other potential donors.
• During Writing Streak Week, share your written pieces with a link to your fundraising page and visit Write the World's Instagram for creative prompts! Tag @Write_The_World with hashtags #WritetheWorld and #WritingStreak.
• Teen writers can respond to our prompts right on the platform at writetheworld.org, while other participants can just commit to writing in any format they are comfortable with. Whether it’s a journal entry, a short flash fiction piece, a poem shared right on social media, or a comment responding to our prompts, we want to share the joy of writing with you and bring awareness to Write the World’s mission: to equip teenagers with the confidence and competence to change the world, one word at a time.
